Transform Our World Youth Summit Ambassador Silvia shares what she enjoyed about the finale of the Summit.

Day 4 linked all the themes of the previous days together and talked about how we could implement them into our daily lives. It spoke about the importance of all the themes and the fact that nurturing values of caring for the planet and other people can have a bigger impact on both our actions and people in power than just using our actions to transform our world. The youth summit has taken us on a whirlwind journey through the climate crisis with different people, charities, and organizations speaking across the days and it has been amazing to hear from such experienced people as well as working with my fellow youth ambassadors.
The finale session was a summary of the three days and had several panellists (some were also youth ambassadors)! At the beginning, the youth ambassadors (Lilith, Olivia, Edward, and Caitlin) presented the results of the polls from the three days of the summit. One of the polls from action day showed that most young people watching the summit thought that they could have a positive impact on the environment. One of the polls from power day showed that most young people watching were not happy with the way the education system measured success. One of the polls from values day revealed that many young people believed that the people around them did not have caring for other people and the planet as a priority. In fact, most young people do, which was proved in a video shown in the finale session as well as on previous days of the summit. This video was called "Do we live in a selfish world? How do you see the people around you?" from the Dirt is Good Project and it was about a survey given to secondary school pupils to understand their thoughts about the climate crisis.
Throughout the session, the panellists talked through and discussed innovative ideas and concepts, ranging from eco-anxiety to the importance of changing how we measure success in schools and how we move away from traditional exams and tests. It was such an amazing and interesting end to the youth summit. I cannot stop talking with my family about the youth summit and due to the summit, I keep thinking of ideas for how to help the environment at home as well as in school.
I have loved working on and creating the youth summit with my fellow youth ambassadors and it was definitely one of the best experiences of my life. I learnt so much and I will try to think about how I can apply my new-found knowledge into my daily life. I hope I can use what I have learnt to create meaningful changes in my community and beyond.
