Students at Dogsthorpe Academy in Peterborough have recently begun their journey as Changemakers to take positive action for a better world!

Made up of 10 young people, the group have had three sessions and have recently learnt about the Dirt Is Good principles, explored their own values and what the Global Goals are and why they exist. 

The group took part in an activity which required them to decide what Global Goals they would prioritise if they were in a charge of a country. They found this a challenging task, as they recognised that every Global Goal was important! However, they gave it a good go and were able to explain their choices. The photo below shoes how they ranked them. 

All groups were able to confidently explain their choices, with one choosing Life on Land as their top choice, alongside Peace and Justice and Quality Education as ‘’without nature, our planet would be sad, and it’s important we learn how to make the world a better and peaceful place’’.  

They are extremely excited about their project and have already come up with lots of ideas to support the school and their local community and environment. Some early ideas involve helping out their local community, raising awareness about reusable items, and also helping those who are less unfortunate in other countries.   The group hope to decide and finalise their project next session and can’t wait to get stuck in! They’ll soon be learning more about how everybody will have a role to play in their project. Stay tuned for more news soon!
