Plastic-Free periods
With Women’s environmental network
Session for secondary schools
It’s a shame that people don't talk more about periods, or their impact on the wider world! Big-brand disposable period products are a potential health hazard, packed with chemicals and plastic that takes years to break down - what's more, that plastic is polluting our planet, with menstrual products currently the fifth most common item found on European beaches – more widespread than single-use coffee cups, cutlery or straws. So what can we do? This session focuses on what it is to have a period, what happens when we don't dispose of period products properly and, what alternatives are out there so that we keep both body and planet healthy.
