All about food, farming & forests
With Berkshire Schools Eco-Network students
Session for primary schools
Food is one of the really important issues in the environment. We all need food to live, but the energy and land that we need to grow enough food is often really bad for the environment.
People often waste a lot of food, and agriculture used to grow our food also destroys forests and natural habitats where our wild species live. Also the chemicals used kill other animals and leak into the water. Forests are a key habitat that supports our wildlife and they provide refuge for our largest species including deer, wild boar, badgers and foxes.
This talk by the Berkshire Schools Eco-Network will provide a general overview of these topics, with examples, in order to increase the understanding and awareness in school children, of such important and relatable issues.
The BSEN is a network made up of a mixture of local private and state secondary schools in Berkshire which are environmentally minded and are working to engage local communities and effect change within their schools by generating and sharing ideas.
This session was hosted Live as part of the Youth Climate Summit in November 2020.
