Meet the host schools: Woodbridge High School
(09/11/20)
Posted by : Transform Our World

Woodbridge High School in Redbridge has set itself ambitious goals in terms of the climate and ecological emergency, we aim to be the most ecological school in our area and ultimately in the UK.

Before lockdown our Climate Crisis Committee met regularly, the school was content to grant students who participated in ‘Friday’s for the Future’ authorised absence, and on the 20th September 2019 the global day of action for the planet, a delegation of our teachers, supported the student demonstration and were featured on the cover of the National Education Union magazine which is circulated to 450,000 members.

We are in the process of making our site more ecological and inviting to wildlife; planting dozens of trees, hundreds of bulbs and making a home for two bee hives.

The Climate Crisis Committee is also involved in ongoing negotiations with our caterers and suppliers about ensuring that everything we consume in school has been checked against ecological standards.

We still have a long way to go in terms of the what we teach and how we fuel our school, but the journey has begun.
