UKSSN on tour this summer at Festival of Education

This summer the UKSSN has been out and about showcasing its work.

From the 7th-8th July, we were at the annual Festival of Education in Berkshire. We ran a stall together with Transform our World. This year the organisers sought to include sustainability into the agenda and as a result we had the opportunity to take part in the sustainability strand of the event.

Thoughtbox, one of our partner organisations, share on their experience at the Festival. Click here to read the full article:

‘Placed at the very heart of the festival in the atrium, the strand - curated by WWF and SEED - brought together a consortium of 14 organisations, all of whom have been working tirelessly in the space of education for sustainable futures for many years. It was great to grab one of their informative wall calendars of key social and environmental global and annual events from the team at Global Dimensions, and share ideas for the curiosity cabinet with our friends at SEED, as well as enjoying many of the activities and insights being shared by friends and partners.’

With over 4000 people in attendance at the festival, we had the opportunity to speak to various educators from across the country who approached our stand.  From teachers, to school governors to students, we were able to promote the work we are doing at UKSSN.  See a video of our stall on Instagram or Twitter.

During July we are part of a display about projects that the Royal Society of Chemistry has funded, amongst them our trip with PPL PWR to COP26 in November. On display includes our published UKSSN-Planetary Words and Pictures for Your World anthology; one of our COP26 roving gallery t-shirts produced to showcase student art and poetry from the anthology; our response to the Department for Education Sustainability and Climate Strategy launched at COP26; and winter and spring editions of our student newsletter the Green Gazette.
