This time last year we were preparing to travel to Glasgow for the COP26 global climate summit where over 20 school pupils from 13 different regions represented the UK Schools Sustainability Network in the ministerial and civil society zones.
We can't get to Egypt for COP27 so instead we have written a letter setting out what we would like to see from this year's summit. If you are a delegate or observer, please can you pass on our asks so that our voices can be heard.
The letter was drafted by a UKSSN Year 13 pupil based on discussions in student meetings held this term.
We're delighted that Prime Minister Rishi Sunak heeded our advice and, having received our letter emailed at 830pm on Tues 1 Nov, decided the following morning that he will indeed travel to COP27 in Egypt.
Ahead of COP27, UKSSN students have also written a series of UKSSN letters to policymakers to the Secretary of State for Education, His Majesty King Charles III and the Prime Minister. These can be found here, and on socials at:
