A community of educators empowering students to take climate action
Avon Schools Eco Network
Last year we managed several exciting projects. We have twinned with Kivukoni Green school on the coast of Kenya - a school with much higher sustainability standards than us, but need help with funding. Closer to home, we are looking to create an assembly that will be sent around schools, similarly to the big Anti-Bullying assembly. We also have a strong focus on COP26 which is being held in the UK this year, but we are yet to decide what we are going to do in relation to this.
There are high hopes for future projects including:
- Increasing green energy and biodiversity in schools, and also a focus on the 'Lets go Zero' Campaign, which aims to get schools to be NET Zero by 2030.
- building more international connections in countries with a range of success stories and challenges,
- Working with mentors with experience in local politics to create useful debate on climate change issues. We would also love to work on any ideas that you feel passionately about.
- Training students through Force Of Nature to turn anxiety into action to help develop a brand new course that combines these skills with peer mentoring training through EcoCAMHS.
- Making a difference on the ground with annual litter picks (on the coast 2020)
