‘Change mostly happens from the outside and works its way in, and there’s plenty of evidence that education’s place as a change-maker is no longer on the sidelines.’
The article, COP27: Sealing education’s role in climate action, was written by Year 13 UKSSN student Eleanor Staines Shaw and published in Schools Week. Nor has been an active member of UKSSN for two years. She attended COP26 in Glasgow as part of the UKSSN delegation, wrote our recent COP27 asks that were delivered to this year’s delegates in Egypt, and has been doing our #UKSSNStudentTakeover on Instagram and Twitter during COP27.
In her article, Nor highlights the critical role of education in tackling the climate crisis. The piece also features useful insights from Ana Romero, the staff lead for the UKSSN Berkshire network and a COP negotiator for Mexico and Jenny Cooper, the National Education Union’s COP27 representative.
