NEWS & STORIES
Robert Ferguson Primary School in Carlisle hosted the Cumbria Youth Climate Summit held in April 2019 which brought together students from 30 schools and raised the profile of environmental concern and public awareness across Cumbria.
As a follow-up to this, in April 2020 we worked in partnership with Transform Our World to organise and deliver an online National Youth Climate Summit.
Our whole staff team have recently received training in the teaching of environmental education, and our pupils are fully supported in expressing their environmental concerns to local business leaders and politicians. The pupils are also taking action to reduce our carbon footprint and to support biodiversity around our school site by planting hundreds of trees and wildflowers. The school building is being fitted with solar panels which will enable us to generate up to 50% of the school’s energy needs.
Robert Ferguson Primary School is now co-hosting Day 3 of the Youth Climate Summit 2020.
