Brynteg County Primary school is in the village of Brynteg, in Wrexham local authority. There are 197 pupils on roll between the ages of 3 and 11. The school has seven single-age classes and a part-time nursery class.
Our village is one of the most deprived areas in Wales and we have a high proportion of pupils who access free school meals. We also have a high proportion of pupils with additional learning needs.
The environment has always been a priority for the Brynteg community and we have retained the Platinum Eco Schools award for six years - an achievement that fills us with pride!
We have a very active Eco Committee who focus on recycling, energy efficiency and improving the school environment. Two of our teachers are qualified Forest School Leaders and outdoor learning is key for our pupils.
We are delighted to be included in the Youth Climate Summit and are looking forward to sharing our views and experiences on a global scale.
Brynteg County Primary school is co-hosting Day 1 of the Youth Climate Summit 2020.
