Students try an innovative way to use old wrappers

The competition was rife this term as the Water Explorer Schools from the Uthukela region battled it out to build the most eco-bricks. Eco-brick is a wonderfully creative solution to containing waste at schools as a result of chip and sweet papers that cannot ordinarily be recycled. Each class was urged to collect the litter and pack it tightly into 2 litre coke bottle.

The winning class will be awarded a BIG BUILD party whereby Bridget and Julia will host a special party with a smorgasbord of delicious treats and of course, our signature Water Explorer cake. After celebrations teams will roll up their sleeves to construct/build something useful from the bricks. Be it a table, stools or a nice garden bench, the possibilities are endless. A big well done to Gabangemfundo School with 105 eco-bricks, hot on their tails was Phumelelani Primary with 100 eco-bricks and third place goes to Falethu Primary with 80 bricks. A big congratulations to all for their sterling efforts.
