NEWS & STORIES
Since Greta Thunberg stood on the steps of the Swedish Parliament in August 2018 and called for climate action, the world has changed. The climate breakdown has risen up the news agenda. Young people are taking action.
The movement Greta founded, #Fridaysforfuture refers to how she strikes every Friday to protest a lack of climate legislation. Greta has been invited to speak at a lot of high-profile events, and has inspired many students around the globe to also go on strike.
Over 1.6 million young people have gone on school strike and put the climate crisis at the top of the public agenda. Governments – national and local - across the world are declaring a state of climate emergency. Public concern about the climate crisis has never been higher.
On Friday 20 September, climate strikes are planned across 6 continents, in 120 countries. For the first time, adults have been invited to join and show their support for the #ClimateStrike.
