Bristol Mayoral Election Climate Debate hosted by Avon Schools Eco Network
(21/04/21)
Posted by : Avon Schools Eco Network

In April 2021 students of Avon Schools Eco Network ran a live family-friendly climate debate with four Bristol mayoral candidates from the Conservative, Green, Labour and Liberal Democrat parties ahead of elections on May 6.

Watch the footage, including the whole event, a school assembly version, making of and highlights by clicking here.

We did everything ourselves, including the preparation, filming and hosting. Young adults from across the city had the opportunity to send in their questions before the debate.

The aim of the event was to increase the youth engagement and total turnout at the election from just 44.76% in the 2016 Bristol Council elections. We wanted more people to feel informed on the climate crisis, what the possible mayors of Bristol were planning to do to stop it and who you should vote for to secure the future of Bristol as a biodiverse, low-polluted and environment-focussed city.

Thank you to Pytch's virtual venue in Brislington for hosting the debate and to Massive Attack for giving us permission to use their song as a backing track for our 'Making Of' video.
