After learning a little about consumerism, and much we all throw away when we have finished with various products that contain plastic, we invited a local artist, Bronwen Gwillim, to come into Canolfan yr Eithin to talk about different types of plastic and how we might be able to reduce, re-use or recycle our plastic waste. We then sorted all the plastics we had collected into different groups- non-recyclable/ recycleable/ re-usable in our project.
After that, we created an underwater scene using some of the plastics we could re-use, to depict the water and sea creatures swimming in a clean sea/ocean with the caption - 'Rydw i'n hoffi nofio mewn dŵr glân' (I like to swim in clean water). We created our masterpiece by safely melting the plastics we were able to re-use in our project, using Bronwen's special equipment, and a clothes iron. The prupose of our workshop/project was to raise awareness of how much of our plastic waste can end up in our rivers, seas and oceans.

Students have been working hard on an exciting recycling project to make new paper from scrap wastepaper collected around the college. To begin the process, the students went around different classrooms and offices collecting unwanted paper that would otherwise be thrown away. This helped everyone in the college to take part and learn more about reducing waste.
