This resource is designed to teach your students about active travel and how they can encourage others to participate. They will collect and analyse data about students’ travel methods and use this to help inform how they will raise awareness on active travel. You may wish to use it at certain times of the year to coincide with other events, such as Clean Air Day, Walk to School Week or Car Free Day.
Students will:
- Understand what active travel is and its benefits
- Carry out travel behaviour surveys of students at the school and analyse the data
- Create posters about active travel
- Use their posters as a tool to raise awareness and promote the importance of active travel.
This resource helps support the below Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
Take urgent action to combat climate change by regulating emissions and promoting developments in renewable energy.
Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
Provide the access to clean and affordable electricity for all people.
