The Youth Climate Summit is an engaging, accessible week of climate action and discovery for schools, with events hosted online throughout the week. The Youth Mock COP is running at the same time, and the Youth Climate Summit will complement and feed into this.
The Youth Climate Summit is coordinated by environmental charity Global Action Plan and aims to empower students and teachers to become more ambitious with their school commitments in tackling the climate emergency.
We’d love to get every school in the UK talking about the climate and ecological emergency and what action they are taking at a time when World Leaders should have been doing the same.
In bringing together young people from across the UK who are committed to taking action, the Youth Climate Summit will demonstrate how critical the climate emergency is to young people, and send a clear message about the expectations they have of the world leaders that represent them.
The Youth Climate Summit will run over five days, from 9-13th November 2020, with participants joining online.
Created in collaboration with teachers and young people, each day will focus on a different theme, with morning, afternoon and after school sessions (film screenings and teacher CPD), as well as fringe activities provided by schools, youth-led organisations, community groups, NGOs and experts and thought leaders.
Teachers and young people - whether in schools groups or independently - are welcome to join the Youth Climate Summit. You do not have to be in a school setting to make use of the events, they are accessible to all.
The Youth Climate Summit will support and connect young people across the UK to come together to take action on issues they care about.
Primary sessions should be suitable for ages 5-11 and secondary sessions should be suitable for ages 11-18, although many will be suitable for all ages. Please read the information on each session to gauge suitability.
The summit will be taking place online between the 9th and 13th November 2020. Content will be hosted by a variety of schools and organisations, and all will be streamed through this site live and available to watch afterwards.
Any teacher or adult can register for a whole day of events or specific events during the week and you can register up right up until a session begins. Once signed up, you can forward the link for a session onto colleagues and/or students.
The events can be viewed from any country of the world, although please note all times on the website are in GMT.
Timings don't work for you? Don't worry, Recordings of the sessions will be available for you to view after the session has occurred. You will be able to access the sessions once logged into Transform our World.
The Youth Climate Summit is being designed with schools at its heart - so we’re looking for schools to collaborate with us. If you would like to get involved in any of the following ways, please submit your details using the form at the bottom of the page and we’ll be back in touch soon.
- Nature, Oceans & Water (biodiversity, habitats, conservation, water, oceans, SDG 6 14 & 15)
- Pollution, Waste & Travel (clean transport, clean energy, plastic pollution, air pollution, eco-tourism, circular economy SDG 7 & 11)
- Food, Farming & Forests (meat industry, food waste, palm oil, deforestation, rainforests, agriculture, adaptation SDG 3 & 15)
- Fashion & Consumption (fashion, electronic, big business, sustainable business, SDG 12)
- A Sustainable Future – renewable energy, zero carbon, teaching the future, production & supply chains, green careers, social, racial & environmental justice, adaptation & resilience building (all the SDGs!)
The Golden Threads are a series of themes that will run throughout the summit and the fringe events in addition to the specific environmental themes. The Golden Threads for 2020 are:

- Health & Wellbeing

The submission deadline for the logo competition has now passed, but you can still vote on which entry you would like to see as the logo for the Youth Climate Summit 2020 on the logo competition page.
The summit is being organised by a group of interested teachers, individuals and organisations who have come together to make the summit happen. The Summit is being hosted by Transform our World with the support of Global Action Plan.
