Food, Farming & Forests - Young people co-creating a peatland paradigm

Young people co-creating a peatland paradigm

With RE-PEAT

Session for secondary schools

In our session we will be expanding upon the peatland paradigm shift and what exactly that means. We will place this paradigm shift in the context of many other changes and challenges we are facing, and how these can be made easier to understand through the lens of peatlands. Expect a lot of enthusiasm, puns and love of peatlands!

RE-PEAT is a youth-led foundation working to bring about and co-create a peatland paradigm shift. We want to shift the perspective on peatlands so that they are viewed, seen and imagined as valuable and vital ecosystems. We see that this can be achieved through education, collaboration and a process of (re)imagination, and so these aspects are included in all the work that we do. Some of the projects we have worked on so far are our Pest-Fest - which was an online, global and 24 hour-long festival that celebrated peatlands from many different disciplines, regions and perspectives - and the Peat Anthology - which was a collection of letters, poems, art pieces are text highlighting various people's experience and value of peatlands presented to the Members of European Parliament.
