About Education for Sustainable Development

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is an eight module, online CPD programme for primary teachers and leaders who want to put sustainable development at the heart of their school. Developed by TES Institute and WWF, it aims to inspire a new generation of sustainability champions.

ESD supports teachers and leaders to develop their own understanding of the world we live in and enables them to explore the issues that affect us, both locally and globally. It then helps teachers foster children's natural curiosity and encourage them to make connections and recognise relationships, trends and patterns in our increasingly complex world. 

Comprising text, videos and links to additional teaching resources and materials, the course also looks at ways of developing a whole school approach to ESD, examines how to teach ESD through the curriculum, and provides inspiring examples of successful ESD practice from around the UK.
