A community of educators empowering students to take climate action

Week 2: Fashion & Consumption

8th- 14th February

This week our #Ecolockdown challenge is:

Find out where your favourite piece of clothing comes from and if it's ethically made.

Fast fashion is harmful to the planet. Learning about how our clothes are made and where they come from can help us to make better choices.

This week, ask your class to pick their favourite piece of clothing and find out the journey it travelled to get to them.

Ask them to think about:

  • How easy or hard it was to find where the piece of clothing was from
  • How they feel about how the clothing was made: has it changed their opinion on that item or brand?
  • Ideas for making more sustainable clothing choices: Could they shop second-hand or setup a clothing swap?

We want to hear from everyone participating in the EcoLockdown challenge! Share the fashion discoveries your students make with us on social media using #EcoLockdown

Below are some sessions from our Youth Climate Summit that you can watch with your class to help them learn more about fashion and Consumption.

You can also explore the full library of all the Youth Climate Summit sessions here.
