A community of educators empowering students to take climate action
We host online training events for teachers and young people throughout the academic year. These range from a series of week long events like our annual Youth Summit to one off sessions.

An Introduction to Project Based Learning & Expeditionary Learning

Project Based Learning (PBL) is a teaching method in which “students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging, and complex question, problem, or challenge.”
This interactive Project Based Learning and Expeditionary Learning (EL) session was hosted by Edge Foundation for all teachers and school staff.
Participants learnt what Project Based Learning and Expeditionary Learning is and explored some of the core elements and spectrum of practice. Examples and stories of best practice from the UK and USA were shared as well as discussing how participants could bring PBL and/or EL into their classroom.
Community Connected Learning (CCL) is a form of experiential learning where students collaborate to address societal challenges as part of their broader education.
This interactive Community Connected Learning session was hosted by Edge Foundation for teachers, senior leaders, PHSE and community engagement leads.
Participants learnt about Community Connected Learning (CCL) and explored some of the core elements, key concepts, and design principles. Examples and stories of best practice in CCL were shared as well as discussing how participants could bring CCL to their classroom.

Generation Action: Join the Conversation

Global Action Plan hosted a follow up interactive session, to the previous Generation Action event.
Educators came together to discuss the role that values play in creating change. In this collaborative session participants were able to share views and ideas.
Young people are taking part in less social & environmental action than they would like to for the fear of not fitting in. This fear is widespread, but appears to be misplaced. Young people do care, they are compassionate & want to take action.
This session helped teachers to show their students that their natural compassion & care is the norm which gives young people the confidence to get stuck in on projects & activities that create real change.

What makes a superb sustainability educator?

Participants were introduced to the Rounder Sense of Purpose framework, which has been designed for educators, working at any level, who wish to provide an education for sustainable development.
Based on 12 educator competences, including creativity, values and empathy, the framework unfolds into a rich palette of learning outcomes that help educators and their students embrace a wide range of concerns – social, economic and environmental.
In this interactive workshop, teachers will develop a critical understanding of ESD, explore some of the skills and knowledge required of the educator and reflect on implications for their own practice.
The Youth Climate Summit was an engaging, free and accessible week (9-13th November 2020) of climate action and discovery for schools, with events hosted online throughout the week.
The Youth Climate Summit was coordinated by environmental charity Global Action Plan and empowered students and teachers to become more ambitious with their school commitments in tackling the climate emergency.

Over three days in November 2021 (3rd, 8th, 10th Nov), while the UK hosted the COP26 Climate Conference, the Transform Our World Youth Summit, brought together UK schools for an online journey of exploration.
There were three themed days, looking at individual actions we can do, people in power we can influence and the importance of living our true values.
On the fourth day, was The Transform Our World Youth Summit Finale, involving expert speakers and youth presenters reflecting on learnings from across the Youth Summit.

To coincide with National Careers Week 2022, we ran a careers panel event.
During this event students heard from a range of professionals in jobs putting people and planet first, discussing their roles, and how students can also pursue similar careers.
As part of this event, students had the opportunity to ask panellists questions about their careers and what steps they can take in pursuit of their chosen career pathways.
