About Us

The climate crisis is here; the nature crisis is here. Our education systems need to respond. But to do this, they need to change.

Through Global Action Plan Education we are driving these changes. But we do not do this alone. We organise. We collaborate. We enable.

Global Action Plan Education is your way into that change making process.

  • If you are an educator, you will find programmes and resources to practice the very best versions of sustainability and climate change education that exist.
  • If you are a policymaker, you will find the evidence, thinking, policy recommendations and inspiration you need to transform your education systems.
  • If you are campaigner, you will find actions to support, campaigns to back, tools to use and – vitally – solidarity.
  • If you are a young person, you will find ways to take action on the issues you care about and signposts to the support you need to make those actions count.

Global Action Plan is a multi-award-winning environmental charity with over 30 years’ experience of designing, delivering, evaluating and championing sustainability and climate change education.

We are the people behind the Good Life Schools programme. We are the creators of Water Explorer, the Dirt Is Good Project, Flickers for the Future, Transform our World, and Goals for Good.

We work with Government, Business, Philanthropists, Schools and most importantly, young people.

Our approach to education

New models of education, such as those explored in Educating for the Anthropocene by Peter Sutoris, provide us with inspiration and blueprints for our work with young people.

Sutoris' ‘Grasp, Care, Imagine, Communicate, Act’ framework guides the design and delivery of our projects and programmes. These are the ingredients of a good education, they are things that young people need to do, and do well.

Our projects are proving this. When young people can Grasp, Care, Imagine, Communicate, and Act in the ways described here, they are better prepared (both willing and able) to take collective action on just about any social or environmental cause.

This is why we prioritise these five and why we ask ourselves constantly if we are helping young people to improve on each and every one of them.

A cycle moving through Grasp, Care, Imagine, Communicate, Act

Our approach to campaigning

We endeavour to ‘be the change we want to see’ when we are working with schools and young people. This is why our education programmes, like Good Life Schools, challenge the norm. Our work in schools is within the boundaries of what’s allowed, but it pushes at those boundaries to show what might be possible if the boundaries were to shift.

By working in schools and with teachers and young people directly, we gain credibility in the eyes of policymakers and the evidence of impact that backs up our campaign asks. This enables us to be effective and influential in policy making circles.

Our team

We are an experienced team of educators, researchers, communicators, and campaigners. What unites us is our passion for ensuring that all young people receive the best possible climate change and sustainability education
